  77.   Corn crop yields, especially vulnerable to extreme hot weather, are the subject of EPA studies quoted in Schneider's book.[Global Warming, Schneider,Sierra Books,1989]  The heat in the southern states, such as Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina could cut corn harvests by more than half, while states in our nation's midsection (Kansas and Nebraska) could see 30 percent lower corn yields.  EPA studies also show lower yields for soybeans.  Schneider believes that the cornbelt will eventually shift to the northern US and into Canada. ***
